"I have been offering tDCS in my practice for several years with notable success across various conditions. Initially, I worked with the conventional rubber electrodes and bands, which, although therapeutically effective, were time-consuming and could only be administered on-site.

The introduction of tDCS caps has facilitated this process. Preparation now takes no more than five minutes, making it straightforward and efficient. This simplicity allows my patients to independently use tDCS therapy at home.

For the first tDCS treatment, I select the appropriate cap size, devise a treatment plan, and instruct patients on the proper use of the DC-STIMULATOR MOBILE and the cap. They then perform the therapy themselves under supervision in the practice. Once they are confident and know exactly what to do, they take the stimulator and the cap home.

To date, all patients have managed well; the application is simple and suitable for daily use. They can move and walk around during treatment, which was impossible with the rubber bands. Even those with physical limitations, such as shoulder issues, muscle weakness, or fine motor skill problems, can use the stimulation independently. When this isn't feasible, I train a caregiver. Currently, I am treating a stroke patient with apallic syndrome, where a nurse and the patient's wife have been trained to administer the therapy twice daily effectively.

I've found that some patients benefit from two different electrode positions on the head. In such cases, I provide the stimulator with two corresponding caps.

It’s crucial to rinse the cap in clear water after each application and let it dry completely to prevent salt encrustation. Patients handle this well. Between different patients, I hand wash the cap with mild detergent. To date, I have treated around 80 patients using my nine caps and stimulators."

We extend our thanks to the occupational therapy practice Puderbach in Erfurt for sharing this detailed insight into their innovative working methods.
